About the event
Tal Cohen is a Grammy Award winning pianist and composer known for his contemporary approach to jazz piano and improvisation. Originally from Israel and raised in Australia, Cohen has performed internationally as both a bandleader and collaborator, appearing at festivals and venues across the United States, Europe, and Australia.
Featured with the quartet is tenor saxophonist Wayne Escoffery, a Grammy Award winning musician, DownBeat Critics Poll winner, and longtime member of major ensembles including the Mingus Big Band and Tom Harrell Quintet. Escoffery has performed and recorded with artists including Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Abdullah Ibrahim, Randy Brecker, and Tom Harrell.
Together, the quartet presents a program rooted in modern jazz, combining original compositions, contemporary improvisation, and straight ahead swing through an interactive and rhythmically driven ensemble sound.
