Hector Martignon & Foreign Affair is a genre-defying ensemble led by Colombian-born, New York-based pianist and composer Hector Martignon. A two-time Grammy nominee, Martignon is celebrated for his innovative fusion of jazz improvisation with classical European structures, Latin American folklore, and Afro-Cuban rhythms. His work has earned recognition from the Smithsonian Institution, which cites him among the leading artists exploring the regional sources of Latin jazz.


Formed in the late 1990s, Foreign Affair has evolved through various iterations, consistently showcasing Martignon's visionary approach to music. The group's 1998 debut album, The Foreign Affair, featured collaborations with luminaries such as Rubén Blades, Randy Brecker, and Don Byron, earning acclaim for its seamless blend of jazz, Latin, and world music elements. Their latest release, Sous Le Vent (2024), continues this tradition, offering a rich tapestry of sounds that reflect the ensemble's global influences and Martignon's…
