Nilson Matta’s Brazilian Voyage is a celebration of Brazil’s rich musical heritage, led by internationally renowned bassist, composer, and bandleader Nilson Matta. A founding member of the acclaimed Trio da Paz and a longtime collaborator with Yo-Yo Ma on the Grammy-winning Obrigado Brazil project, Matta has spent his career redefining the role of the bass in Brazilian jazz. With his signature lyrical phrasing, impeccable groove, and deep rhythmic sensibility, Matta brings an unmatched authenticity and sophistication to the stage.

The Brazilian Voyage Quartet is an all-star ensemble that draws from a deep well of musical influences—samba, bossa nova, choro, baião, and MPB (música popular brasileira)—all reimagined through the lens of contemporary jazz. The group’s repertoire features both timeless Brazilian standards and compelling original compositions, offering a powerful and moving experience that honors tradition while embracing innovation.
