About the event
Bill O’Connell is a pianist, composer, arranger, and bandleader known for his extensive work in Latin jazz and straight ahead jazz. Over the course of his career, he has performed and recorded with artists including Mongo Santamaria, Dave Valentin, Sonny Rollins, and Chet Baker, while also leading numerous projects under his own name.
Percussionist Richie Flores is widely recognized for his work across Afro Caribbean, Latin jazz, and jazz traditions. A longtime collaborator with artists including Gato Barbieri, David Sánchez, Eddie Palmieri, and Hilton Ruiz, Flores is known for his dynamic rhythmic approach and deep connection to Afro Puerto Rican musical traditions.
Together, O’Connell and Flores create an intimate and rhythmically charged duo performance combining jazz improvisation with Afro Latin rhythms, original compositions, and interpretations drawn from the Latin jazz tradition.
